Vending Masks

Hong Kong property developers have come to the rescue by gifting the public with free masks. Even with Hong Kong’s decrease in number of cases, citizens still religiously wear their masks. But despite the price of masks recently returning to a more attainable price, lower-income residents are still forced to reuse their masks for weeks, or go outside without one, increasing their risk of contamination. Property tycoons like Adrian Cheng have introduced face mask vending machines that will donate 10 million masks to low-income citizens via smart redemption cards, and Li Ka-shing has also donated 250,000 masks to the underprivileged in Hong Kong, along with HKD100 million to the city of Wuhan. ⁣

⁣While the government announced a HKD10,000 cash handout along with other measures in February, the money has yet to be given, and people are in need of resources now. As Hong Kongers continue to rate their government lowly, with 80% rating it as not supportive at all according to Toluna, brands can come together to form Brand Gangs and take the lead when the government hasn't yet. How will Brand Gangs continue to support the public after the virus is over?⁣
